Since 2001, the Architecture Foundation of Oregon has been privileged to work with The Van Evera and Janet M. Bailey Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation in awarding the $20,000 Van Evera Bailey Fellowship to advance the professional development of mid-career architects and encourage greater contributions to their profession and their community.
Recipients to date include:
- 2007 – Mark Perepelitza to study Innovative Window Systems for Northwest Architecture, Pursuing the Challenge of Zero Energy Buildings. Mark will study national and international efforts in a systematic manner to find promising solutions for Oregon and the Northwest. - 2006 – Jean E. von Bargen, AIA to study the design and implementation of major infrastructure projects?those necessary but often unwanted additions to communities that are all too often distinguished by chain link fences and barbed wire. Her fellowship will involve research and comparison of public infrastructure development and its public and design interface in Portland and Barcelona. The latter city’s preparation for the 1992 Olympics, including public infrastructure in transportation, satellite sewer systems, and even a telecommunication tower designed by Santiago Calatrava, made it an international leader in re-visioning urban growth and investment.
- 2005 – Becca Cavell to create a Field Guide to the important residential work of a select group of prominent architects working in the State of Oregon during the mid twentieth century
