Congratulations to John Little of Northwest Portland for winning the AFO-Portland Tribune LOOK AROUND Sweepstakes! John was one of several participants who correctly identified the buildings from which eight of Bruce Forster’s architectural detail photos were taken. The photos appeared during November and December in the Portland Tribune. John and a companion will be enjoying an all-expense paid weekend in Seattle, including a personally escorted tour by a Seattle architect.
The LOOK AROUND campaign is a rather Christo-like project designed to expose Portland to the art of her own built environment by wrapping her in larger-than-life images of her architectural treasures.
Perhaps you’ve seen some of the images -whether scrims wrapping a construction site, or buses wrapped to appear as though they are moving buildings. That bus changes routes daily, but is assigned to the Center Street Garage and is frequently on Southeast routes that come through the downtown Transit Mall. All of the photos are the product of renowned Northwest photographer C. Bruce Forster. They are truly stunning.
The walking guide, which you can download with the link above, features the buildings that comprise the LOOK AROUND photo collection. Coming soon is a friendly and engaging publication to encourage children and families to explore and experience their built environment.
