DESCRIPTION:Saturday Design Studio 2026\nHosted by Architectural Foundation of San Francisco (AFSF) \n\nCurious about architecture & design? Want a broader understanding of the architectural profession? Ready for a deep dive into the design process? Want to work on your design skills? Developing work for your portfolio and your presentation skills? Well\, then this is your studio. \nOur architecture studio meets online every Saturday for 6 weeks. We’ll focus on developing using digital design tools. You’ll learn foundational architectural concepts and terms in the iterative design process\, moving from concept to design. You’ll also meet with an architect or other design professional as your mentor once a week\, scheduled to fit your availability. At the end of our studio\, you’ll present your project\, gaining even more supportive feedback and experience. \nThe AFSF Saturday Design Studio is open to high school students from any state or country\, including rising 9th graders. No prerequisites are required – we welcome all levels of experience including no previous architecture studios. We are proud to be a diverse studio. We welcome students from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond\, including international students. If the answer is yes\, then join us for our AFSF Virtual Portfolio Workshop. There are (2) options: \nWorkshop A – Portfolio Overview: Saturday\, October 10\, 1:00-2:30pm \nThis workshop is a single studio. The goal of this studio is to provide an opportunity for you to ask questions\, hear more about what a portfolio is all about\, and learn strategies & approaches for creating a portfolio. \nNOTE: there are no pre-requisites for taking Workshop A and no prior architecture/design experience is needed \nWorkshop B – Building Your Own Portfolio: Saturday\, October 17 & Saturday\, October 24\, 1:00-3:00pm \nIn the 1st studio\, you’ll post examples of your work/projects on our shared digital pin-up board. This work is original work that you’re including in your portfolio. You’ll get feedback & critique from the workshop instructors\, and as well peers in the studio. In addition to feedback & critique\, you’ll receive recommendations on how to build up and develop your work. You’ll develop/design a layout for your portfolio and begin working on creating one section of your portfolio using one of your projects. You’ll work on this during the week in anticipation of presenting it in the 2nd studio. \nThe 2nd studio will be an opportunity to present a draft of the portfolio section and receive individualized feedback and critique of your work. \nNOTE: Workshop A is pre-requisite for participating in Workshop B \nThe registration fee for the workshops are: \n\nOption A/ (1 Studio session) 1.5 hour studio = $200\nOption B/ (2 Studio sessions) 2 hours each studio = $1\,000\n\nIf you register for Option B the pre-requisite Option A studio fee is waived **Must register for Option B to have fee waived.
