SUMMARY:Trauma Workshop (3 of 3) with Renee Mitchell
DESCRIPTION:Workshop 3 of 3*\nTuesday\, June 11\, 4:00-6:00pm\, Zoom \nThe Architecture Foundation of Oregon (AFO) centers education and access for youth at the heart of our programming. We are excited to offer opportunities for design professionals\, educators\, youth organizers\, and more to receive training on trauma-informed practices and social/emotional learning. \nAFO believes that all adults working with youth have a responsibility to not create harm\, to give youth space to express their true selves\, to look to them as experts\, and to center them in our teaching and learning. AFO understands that these are skills that require ongoing learning and will help us be more empathetic and effective teachers\, mentors and leaders. \nPlease join us for a trauma-informed practices and social/emotional learning workshop. Facilitated by Dr. Renee Mitchell\, an educator\, writer\, poet and expert on these topics\, the workshops are intended to help prepare you and make you more comfortable working with youth from different backgrounds. All are welcome. \n*This workshop is the last of a three part series to support ongoing learning. You will receive access to a recording of the first two workshops upon registration. You do not need to have attended the first two workshops to participate. \nPLEASE NOTE: All current AFO volunteers\, board members\, and 2023-2024 Architects in Schools participants have free access to this workshop. Please contact candice@af-oregon.org if you are a current volunteer and have not received the Zoom link. \nRegister\nTuesday\, June 11\, 4:00-6:00pm\, Zoom \n$20 (Limited scholarships available – contact candice@af-oregon.org if you would like to request a scholarship)

SUMMARY:REFRESH @ UO Northeast Campus
DESCRIPTION:Re-engage with friends and colleagues and tour the newly refreshed UO Northeast Campus. \nBeer\, wine\, and light appetizers \nREFRESH is an annual mixer and jovial networking opportunity for design and building professionals\, especially emerging individuals working to advance their career prospects\, to enhance connections across the industry. Held at a different and architecturally exciting location each summer\, the event brings together over 100 guests to learn about a stunning newly renovated\, reimagined\, or brand new project. Guests will learn more about what makes the project special from the designers and builders and mingle at AFO’s second largest annual event of the year. \nJoin us for REFRESH at the not-yet-open University of Oregon Northeast Campus in the Concordia neighborhood! \nEnjoy a sneak peek and behind-the-scenes tour of the campus building renovations. The transformation is truly a slice of PNW design talent\, with multiple firms involved in breathing new life into the university. Enjoy refreshments and networking with peers on the library and learning center patio and take optional tours through the reimagined buildings. This will surely be a REFRESH to remember! \nAbout the Northeast Campus:\nThe University of Oregon purchased the Northeast campus in June 2022 as part of a generous gift by Connie and Steve Ballmer to establish The Ballmer Institute for Children’s Behavioral Health. The move to a new location is the next phase in the UO’s commitment to providing quality public higher education to the Portland region\, dating back to the 1880s. \nFrom graduate professional programs that have launched generations of leaders to creating a new profession of children’s behavioral health specialists\, the UO brings together research\, innovation and partnerships to directly impact and improve the livability of the region. With this campus\, the student experience will be enhanced\, academic and research programs will explore new possibilities\, and alumni and community members will have a nearby place to stay connected to the UO. \nREFRESH @ UO Northeast Campus\nTuesday\, June 25\n5:30-7:30pm\n2800 NE Liberty St\, Portland\, 97211 \nRegister\nAFO Members – $40\nNon-AFO Members – $50\nEmerging Professionals – $15\nEmerging Professionals 5-pack – $60\nEmerging Professionals 10-pack – $100 \nAll funds raised by this event go toward supporting AFO\, which includes programs such as Architects in Schools and multiple scholarships. \nThank you to our Sponsors\n \nBecome a Sponsor
