SUMMARY:Engineering for kids - Environmental Engineering & The Engineering of Travel Camp
DESCRIPTION:Engineering for kids – Environmental Engineering & The Engineering of Travel Camp\nHosted by  Engineering for Kids  \nMorning Course (9:00-12:00): \nEnvironmental Engineering: Go Green \nDuring the Environmental Engineering classes\, students use the Engineering Design Process to design\, create\, test\, and refine basic solutions related to alternative energy and environmental issues. They learn principles behind crafting efficient wind-powered machines and discover how those machines can be used to help reduce the use of fossil fuels. During the culminating project\, students test different materials to discover which ones most effectively clean up after an oil spill. \nAfternoon Course (12:30-3:30): \nAmazing Race: The Engineering of Travel \n111 years ago airplanes had not even made their first flight\, yet today we can fly to the other side of the world in 12 hours! It is thanks to advances in technology that we are able to explore so much of the world. In this class\, teams will have to work together to see who is able to travel the farthest around the world. This trek around the world will require students to design their very own boat\, plane\, and even a rocket! \nWhen: Monday\, June 16th\, 2025 – Friday\, June 20th\, 2025 / 9:00am – 12:00pm and 12:30pm – 3:30pm\nWhere: XSTREAM Learning Center\nServing: Students Ages 7-12\nService Area: Portland\nTopic: Environmental Engineering\nProgram Type: Camp\nCost: Half Day Tuition -$279 / Full Day Tuition -$439
