DESCRIPTION:Architecture Foundation of Oregon Scholarships\nAFO Scholarships support future design and building professionals and encourage people from diverse backgrounds to participate in the process of designing and building our world. We currently award six scholarships for students studying design and building professions in Oregon. Learn more about AFO Scholarships. \n\nHatfield Architectural Award: $5\,000 scholarship for undergraduate and graduate architecture students attending University of Oregon or Portland State University who express commitment to community service.\nWilliam Hart Scholarship: $5\,000 scholarship for Black\, Indigenous\, and/or people of color (BIPOC) Master and Bachelor of Architecture students entering their last year at University of Oregon or Portland State University (graduating in 2026).\nTsagaglalal (She Who Watches) Scholarship: Renewable $10\,000 scholarship for non-graduating Indigenous students of U.S. states and territories\, pursuing a degree in art or architecture at Portland State University.\nHermann Colas\, Jr. Legacy Scholarship: $5\,000 scholarship for Black and Latin(x) undergraduate students pursuing a 4-year degree in construction management\, engineering\, or architecture at an Oregon college or university.\nPAE Diversity in Engineering Scholarship: $5\,000 scholarship for undergraduate students marginalized by ethnicity and/or gender\, pursuing engineering with a passion for climate justice at an accredited 4-year university in the United States.\n\nInterested in learning more about our PCC Architecture + Interior Design Scholarship? SUMMARY:ASCE - 2025 Oregon Regional Bridge Building Competition
DESCRIPTION:Organized by ASCE \nObjective: The goal of this competition is to design\, build\, and test the most efficient bridge that meets the provided specifications. Students who achieve first or second place in the Oregon Regional Contest will qualify for the International Bridge Building Competition on April 26\, 2025\, in Chicago\, Illinois. The ASCE Oregon Section will award scholarships to the top winners (scholarship amounts to be announced). \nPurpose: This event promotes the study and application of fundamental physics principles while encouraging high school students to develop hands-on skills through bridge construction. Participants experience the challenges and excitement of engineering\, learning to design and build structures within specified guidelines and testing their performance. According to this year’s theme\, ‘Climate Action: Designing for Environmental Sustainability\,’ student teams have been working with a client in their community to design projects to create and maintain healthy\, equitable and diverse communities and ecosystems.
