DESCRIPTION:Big Ideas\, Tiny Worlds // A Collaborative Design Camp\nHosted by Portland Art Museum \nLet your child’s imagination take flight as they design and build miniature worlds in this hands-on camp for kids ages 8-10! Campers will work together to create tiny communities\, learning essential design principles while collaborating as a team. \nUnder the expert guidance of teaching artist Teeny Conway\, campers will explore key elements of miniature world building—such as layout\, scale\, proportion\, symmetry\, and balance—transforming everyday items into intricate\, detailed environments. They’ll also dream up the creatures that inhabit their creations\, and discuss how to design sustainable communities that reflect shared values. \nCampers will work with a variety of materials—clay\, paper\, plastic\, foam\, wire\, and wood—and experiment with basic engineering and architectural principles to ensure their designs are sturdy and creative.
