SUMMARY:Benton County Historical Society’s Corvallis Museum Tour
DESCRIPTION:  \n**********CANCELLATION**********\nUnfortunately\, this event has been cancelled. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please see our website if you are interested in other AFO events.\n\nDiscover a New Gem in Corvallis\nHosted by Allied Works and Gerding Builders \nTour the beautiful Benton County Historical Society’s Corvallis Museum with designers from Portland/New York architecture firm Allied Works\, known for designs of major museums in the U.S. Situated among historic storefronts in downtown Corvallis\, the Corvallis Museum collection includes over 120\,000 artifacts including photographs\, historical documents\, textiles\, domestic arts\, farm tools\, scientific instruments\, and personal effects. \nThe Corvallis Museum was designed with reverence for natural light and materials. To preserve paintings\, museum buildings typically limit light. However\, the Corvallis Museum is primarily object-based\, allowing for a striking openness in the design. Galleries include full-size windows that invite the street in. The Corvallis Museum won the 2021 AIA Northwest & Pacific Region Honor Award and a 2021 Honor Award from AIA Oregon. \nWe will tour the building with insights from designers from Allied Works and Jessica Hougen\, Director at Corvallis Museum. Beer\, wine\, and appetizers will be served. \nDine & Design raises money to support the programs of AFO\, including our vital Architects in Schools program which serves thousands of elementary students per year around Oregon. \n \nACCESSIBILITY: The building is accessible by ramps\, elevators\, and doorways provide necessary clearances for mobility devices. ADA-accessible bathrooms are available. Tours of the building will not include additional amplification devices. AFO cares about accessibility – please let us know if you have any questions/concerns that would impact your participation. \nCOVID: AFO will follow all federal/state/local guidelines\, which may fluctuate. We will not require masks. We ask that if you have any flu or cold-like symptoms or have had a sustained exposure to someone with COVID infection that you stay home. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
