An Architects in Schools Celebration & Design Competition

Creative Spark is an annual event and design competition that brings together supporters of Architects in Schools for an evening of design and community. Attendees are invited to browse a selection of classroom projects and celebrate the impact of this program on students and professionals throughout Oregon.

To showcase the elements and impact of design as Architects in Schools students experience, a design competition will take place in real time for guests to peruse and judge. Each year a new theme and design challenge is presented to teams of AEC professionals. Together, they create a model feature and compete for awards designated by a panel of Architects in Schools elementary school student judges.

About Architects in Schools (AiS)

AiS introduces Oregon’s youngest design-thinkers to the power and possibilities of design with the end goal of creating lifelong learners and critical thinkers who have a voice in their community. The program has grown to serving more than 5,000 elementary and middle school students across the state of Oregon.

AiS pairs classroom teachers with design professionals, provides teacher/design professional training and residency preparation, design professional classroom involvement, supply fund support for low-income schools and a public exhibit of student work at the end of the residency period. In addition, AFO offers a week long virtual summer camp based on AiS curricula for children ages 8-12. The program receives invaluable support from over 175 design and building professionals and their firms around Oregon.
